Surge Building at Virginia Tech

Blacksburg, Virginia

Mt. Rogers Community Services Building

The HVAC system for this building is a raised floor plenum type. The raised floor is designed to be modular for ever-changing floor plans. The underfloor plenum is served by two York packaged, gas fired heating, electric cooling units (at each end of the building) maintaining a constant underfloor temperature, with motorized diffusers in the floor (that can be moved to accommodate changing floor plans). Integrated controls from the units and also DDC controls by Siemens, monitors plenum and slab temperature to eliminate condensation under the floor.

This project had extensive sheet metal work involved.
